Ive been looking to replace my exhaust system (perhaps only the exhaust tip) for a strange reason. I dont believe i have any leak or anything technically wrong with the exhaust but the tip coming out of the rear looks insanely skinny (and rediculous). Almost like it was supposed to be for a cherokee or something (I have an '03 limited v8). Im sure it was a replacement exhaust but im having trouble finding the original oem exhaust with the normal (fatter than whats there now) tip. Its also a light grey/silver color, where as the one im looking for is typically much darker (maybe due to age tho?). I really just want the one that came originally from the factory, nothing special. Does anyone know what im talking about?
Its just a 2.5" piece of tubing. Nothing special about it. Just go to an exhaust shop and have them bend it for you, or hit up kolak on here for a nice upgraded pipe. Btw, the 4.0 pipe is 2.25" so not that much smaller.
But are you sure it will look exactly as the original one looks? I dont know why it bothers me so much but it irks me. I hear you about the dimensions being the same but im skeptical. what I have now looks like an exhaust shop did just as you mentioned. Id really like to get what was factory tho. Image attached is what im referring to.
Right, im familiar with the HO sort of striaight looking tip. Still, i really want the stock v8 tip that is significantly wider than what im running now. Its just hard to tell online if what im trying to order is the right one. Again the picture above is what is should look like to me.
To my knowledge there is no tip on the standard model V8s. its just 2.5" pipe out the back. If your pipe is 2.5 inches its exactly what was there stock.
from wj jeeps:
Mopar offers chrome stainless steel exhaust tips for 2003-2004 model Grand Cherokees, one for the V8 and one for the I6. The Chrome tip slips over your existing exhaust pipe and secures with a fastener, "adding extra street smarts to your vehicle". Meets all DaimlerChrysler standards for corrosion resistance.
@Quadratec so what you show there in your first pic is what im looking for. Whats on my jeep right now is definately not that. Ill try to snag a pic tonight and post it. Where can I find exactly what you have shown in your first Pic? Im convinced what im running now was a replacement and it wasnt in the same spec as stock.
I think Ive found it on your website. https://www.quadratec.com/products/917615_16.htm this should be exactly whats in your first pic although "newer" and thus lighter right? Just want to be sure. Im ashamed by the "punyness" of what im running now. Weird but a personal annoyance for me haha
Correct, that is basically going to be the aftermarket replacement. However, this piece from Omix-Ada is not mandrel bent. Notice the "crinkle" on the bend areas? Meaning it will not match exactly to what was factory (the first three pictures originally posted). Unfortunately I'm not finding an exact match to the factory via our website. I have another suggestion for you though, I always source this site here: http://www.car-part.com/
Take a look there, a local salvage yard may have EXACTLY what you're looking for.

Thanks a lot! I don't mind the crinkle so much as it was how thin what I've got looks. If be satisfied with what I found on ur site provided it is indeed that larger diameter than mine now. But from the photo it looks to be right. I really appreciate the help!
