Engine will not start

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0.
Will not start. Turn key on to start, starter motor turns engine over.
Leave key in on position check gauges light stays on and fuel light
stays on, security light stays on, all other dash lights off.
Tried my code scanner, will not connect, to system, for anything.
Key is on but scanner shows no link to system, tried reconnecting, 4
times no luck.
Have checked all fuses and relays, under hood, and dash, has full tank of gas.
Could it be the PCM is bad?

Unplug your crankshaft position sensor from wiring harness and see if the fuel light and security light turn off. Then see if your scanner connects.

What's your battery voltage at? If it's below 12.4 it's quite possible your PCM is not getting enough voltage ...known problem with WJ PCM's ...engine will crank but not start...
Of course possibility your fuel pump went out...my experience with fuel pumps is they always give you a few warning's first...rough starts / sputtering....I'd imagine you already considered this..

The battery has a little over 13 volts. And the fuel pumps working.

Have you tried leaving your battery unplugged for like 30 minutes. See if it will reset the computer. It's a long shot but easy enough to do.

Is it normal for the security light to stay on? You might have a problem with SKIM that won't recognize the key.

I had the same thing when my CPS was going, spent almost 3 days just cranking over. Found out that the WJs sometimes forget how to start, especially if the PCM has been reset. I just had to open the throttle right up and once it fired I had to hold a high idle just until the PCM could do it

The CrkPS's usually operate intermittently before completely failing...that's what my brothers did for a week and that's what I've read... not saying they couldn't go completely kaput...but not the usual scenario.
Definitely the cheaper route to try before a PCM replacement etc..

Engine willnot start

Well I thought the fuel pump was working but , checking it out closer it is not getting any gas to the throttle body, cannot smell any gas and turn the key to on position, cannot here any sound coming from fuel tank.
Gave it one short squirt of starting fluid, still did not even try to start.
If it is the crank positioning sensor will that cut the fuel pump off until
it is replaced, or do I have a bad fuel pump, or both?

Yeah the crank positioning sensor will trigger the ASD relay killing fuel and spark.

I already told you what to try, if you think you know better then why ask? Otherwise I'm done here.

Good gravy Meangreen.
Take a pill man!!
I'm not a big expert like you I guess , or I would not be asking questions.
I'm just trying to eliminate ,the trill and air, and not spend all my money, trying to solve the problem, with parts I don't need.

As I said in post #2

Unplug your crankshaft position sensor from wiring harness and see if the fuel light and security light turn off. Then see if your scanner connects.

No parts needed just a little effort. Help me, help you.
