Engine squeals above 3000 rpm

So I have a 2001 with an I6 and when I try to accelerate it hits 3000 rpm it starts to squeal and i can't get any more power out of it, the squeal is very loud and beyond noticeable, comes abruptly and will go away once it shifts. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in... It's almost religiously At 3000 on the dot. any clue to what's causing this??

loose serpentine belt?

It goes away when it shifts, because it drops below the 3k RPM!

I know why it goes away when it shifts lol.just trying to be as detailed as possible. Although I checked the belt, it's tight and all the pulleys are solid, nothing seems loose!

Im sure it "feels" tight, but have you actually followed the proper way to tighten it/check for looseness? How is the condition of the belt?

With modern belts, you can't really tell how good they are working by just looking at them, they make look perfect but they might not be holding tension.

I would go buy a new belt, and when the old one is off spin all the pulleys to make sure they are free spinning. Its most likely just your belt that is slipping at high RPM's.

Before I buy a new belt.. How do you tighten one?

You don't. Its an automatic tensioner.

Typing on phones sucks.

Alright, I'll get a new belt and see if that helps!

you will need a new pulley too. its cheap and easy to install

Driving today and I noticed something else... When the engine hits around 3000 rpm, the fan will quit increasing in speed and that's when the squealing begins... The engine will continue to speed up and accelerate but the fan gets to its "max speed" and then stays at that speed.

I can tell when the fan is accelerating with the engine because it's loud as f***

Did you ever replace the belt and the pulley?

I haven't had time yet, I've been working on the road the past week and a half.
