Your video is not working..("Page not Found")....maybe on your end because of cookies...
P.S. I like your Armor.....mine too!

As you're probably guessing a knocking noise in the 4.0 is usually a bad piston skirt...how many miles do you have on yours?

Man, its pretty hard to tell in that video, but my first reaction is that it may not be terrible

Could just be the sound on my phone too. Ill listen again later from the computer, but hopefully someone else will chime in

Oops....okay...video didn't work but saw/clicked on link...
Yeah...it doesn't sound too bad...doubt it's a piston skirt....sounds more like a pulley rattling.....take a pipe - hold it to your ear and carefully move it near the various pulleys and see if you can pinpoint noise at pulley etc... or do you only hear it near oil pan?

Did you put new spark plugs in recently? ...I used some of that anti-seize and a plug came loose and sounded a lot like your noise (rattled around a bit but still fired okay)....run "the pipe" along your coil rail too and see if you hear it coming from there....

It's only on a cold start. Could be a lifter sticking?

tough to tell from the video, but does it sound like mine did?

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/...ioner-2544466/

someone suggested using a pipe to pinpoint the sound, you could also use a screwdriver, just put the but end to your ear and listen as you move the tip around to different parts of the engine. Mine was coming from the timing chain cover. ultimately turned out to be a fallen rocker.

That's how mine (had an '04 WJ prior to my current '05) sounded for the first month... Until one day it got MUCH louder because of this:

Hope that's not what's up with yours

LOL ... Nice pic CRCs_Reality. That's what I am dealing with now. #6 piston dropped her skirt just like yours. Now I know my WJ is female.
