Wj Electric Locks & Window controls

Just bought an 03 w/4.0 - auto. pretty stock. runs OK. door locks are VERY strange. To lock doors, have to lock it B4 opening door, open driver door, then lock it manually. None of the buttons work with door open. Key in or key out. My 99 worked normal, take key, get out, punch lock and go. Has somebody changed this one? Surely it didn't come stock like this!

Check the driver's door harness where it goes front the door into the cabin. There's a black boot that you can pull back and expose the harness to check the wires for breaks. Is very common.

Check passenger side too they both do it and the front passenger door module splits the dutie controlling Windows and locks, and also houses the receiver for the remotes.

Thanks yall, will check tomorrow and see what I can find... seems to me the hot wire would have to be crossed or something... don't seem a break in a wire would do what it's doing.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jeep "engineering". There are plenty of electrical gremlins that are quite common with our WJ's.
