Doug Thorley Headers 4.0L - PICTURES!!!

(pics are stored in My Gallery, larger hi-rez photos are pulled from Box.net)

I've had a lot of requests by those knowing these were on the way. Here are pictures of the Mike Leach designed Doug Thorley Header for the 1999-2001 inline 6, 4.0 engine (read: two 02 sensors)(02 - 04 require four 02 sensors. Contact kolak@aol.com for more info). Borrowing Kolak's words for best description:

"This is a tri-Y (3 collector) design, and it really makes a big power difference with a very broad powerband and excellent power and torque gains across the rpm range. This header has a lifetime warranty, and uses 14 gauge tubing with 1/2" laser cut flanges -- the heaviest in the industry. The header is ceramic coated inside and out, a particular benefit for the I6 engine. The coating radically reduces radiated heat into the engine compartment, and given the close proximity of the I6 intake manifold, much cooler intake air will result. That means more power and excellent detonation resistance. The ceramic coating also eliminates worries about header cracking. There's a lifetime warranty on the coating as well."

Clayton's are to long arms what Thorley is to headers; and the shiznit at a whopping $499 apparently. LOL

The box arrived yesterday and hi-rez photos have successfully uploaded. Files are large so I'm posting links instead. Click, select to Download, then choose from there whether to save locally or open. Enjoy.

Those will be great for those who only have two O2 sensors. Those with four O2 sensors won't be able to use them.

Thorley has a specific header for those with four O2 sensors.

Jean - I am so glad they arrived! I never did hear from Thorley with tracking despite my repeated requests. Guess I can stop asking them now

Just a pet peeve of mine, when referring to a 4 cylinder or I6 engine, it's HEADER, not HEADERS. There is only ONE header.

Looks good, not $500 good though.

Want to swap an NP242 or NP231 into your ZJ? Here's how:

FALSE. In stock configuration on a 4.0L WJ it has a two headers. One for the first three cylinders and one for the other three cylinders.

So, you do know you have to do a before and after dyno to show the HP and TQ gains from these headers right???? Are you still running the stock exhaust right now?

FALSE. For one, it's an exhaust manifold, not a header. Two, it's still one assembly as it uses the same collector, making it one exhaust manifold.

I would call it headers, its tubular. My 2000 has two separate 3 into one "headers" that each have their own collector (ball joint) and then a two into one pipe bolted to that.
