What is the maximum depth for the front door speakers ? I know you can use 6x9's but the one I'm looking at are 3 inches tall will they work. Thank you

this may help:
http://www.wjjeeps.com/jlaudio.htm#FRONT
spec says factor speakers are 2-7/8" deep.
I'll be installing infinity reference 6x9's in my front doors this weekend.
they're 3-1/8" so I'm sure I'll have to fabricate some kind of shim to both give the window clearance and keep the speaker from touching the door panel as well.

Sidebar: I installed the infinitiy reference 3-1/2" diameter in the dash last week. really worth the effort to modify the dash to get them to fit!

Infinity reference 6x9 went in the front door without a hitch. holes line up, clears the window, took less than an hour to do both doors.
Just in case anybody was wonderin'
