Door check fix?

So ive got the famous door check pop on my drivers side. Ive searched but havent actually found a remedy aside from replacing the whole assembly. The popping is coming from the body side pin, i tried to grease it but it didnt change it at all. Any home remedies I can try before spending half a bill for the ridiculously over priced assembly?

Edit: I just found part numbers for the bracket and pin which I will try to find locally first

My local dodge dealership cannot get the bracket seperate from the door check assembly and want $75 for it. What a ripoff, anywhere I can order just the bracket online?

Have you checked the classified section or a junkyard for one that might be in better shape?

Justforjeeps doesnt seem to have the bracket seperate unless Im not looking under the right section.
Ill look in the classifieds but I have a feeling thats only a temporary fix.

I thought everyone has a dozen of these. I do. LOL Got 10 more still in the doors in the garage.

Hmm are you willing to let just a bracket and pin set go? Or did you just post them to rub it in? haha

What part is the bracket and pin? The hinge part at the end with the rivet?

.

LowLyfe 11-08-2013 07:48 PM

Yeah the end with the 2 bolt holes and the "rivet" which I believe is the pin.

All the ones I have are riveted. So you'd have to cut rivet off a still have to replace it. Better off just getting the whole assy.
