Red face Did I get a good deal?

About a week ago I purchased a 2000 wj limited with the 4.7. And has 248xxxmiles. I was looking for something jeep because my old car took a dive. The problems it has is the tie rod end on passenger side needs to be replaced and a very slight exhaust leak. There's no rust or any dents, it's pretty clean. I paid $2.200 for it.

I forgot to add that the head gasket has been replaced

I would not have paid more than like 1k or maybe 1.5k for a Wj with 248k.. IMO

Really? I mean I'm not looking for it to last me 5+ years. I just needed something that didn't have any problems to get back and fourth to school and work and to drive around.

I mean if it runs fine then just baby it, there are some guys on here with more miles than that. But you need to stay on top of maintenance

Just because a vehicle has high mileage does not mean it is going to fall apart or die next week. It comes down to the type of miles, maintenance and how the PO took care of their vehicle. I have came across vehicles that had 50,000 miles that I would not touch with a 10 foot pole. Because they were rode hard and put away wet. Just keep up on maintenance and fix any issues as soon as they pop up and it will treat you fine.

I'd actually go through and service it asap, then continually service it and maintain it on a regular basis. You'll know that it's getting what it needs and it should react well as long as the PO took decent care of it. I'd say that's a decent buy. Especially if you do the work yourself.

The PO told me it was used for a sales car so most the miles are high way, which seems to be true the way it runs. What would you recommend doing to it? Just an oil change, change the fluids?

Engine oil, transmission, transfercase, differential fluids. Go all the way around If it has the NV247 transfercase, then it only uses mopar NV247 TF oil. Transmission uses ATF+4.

Deal IMO

Fleet cars are usually well maintained.
You only paid $2200 if it runs a year, you've got your money's worth. Is its a limited, that's not some POS.

Now for what would need addressed. The replaced head gasket could indicate an overheat, which the v8 does not take very well. But, it may of just had been leaking.
The exhaust leak, I assume it has a "tick". Hope fully it is an exhaust leak and not a valve train tick.

What color?

I think we all just need a beer. :cheers2: (courtesy of ChrisHager)

It's dark blue in color. I'm going to be getting the fluids and everything changed today. But I'm glad to hear that some think I got a good deal, it defiantly seems like it was taken care of for the most part.

Going to be getting the fluids changed? I assume means by a shop, prob cost around $1000 for all fluids at a shop around here.

You can save some money and do tcase, diffs and oil yourself, those are easy enough for anyone who can lay on their back and work a
Socket. Plus it's a good way to get to know your Jeep.

But if you have the money and don't have the time or patience, just pay someone to do it
