D44 Rear Axle L and R Specific?!

Are the left and right axles side specific? I dont visually see a difference between the two unless I'm missing something? I DO NOT have QuadraDrive, I have Quadra Trac.

Basically Ive done the rear axle seals and bearings on my D44 reinstalled and been driving for a bit and I noticed the one side is leaking slowly again. I have no driveability issues but like a dumb *** when I did it I DID NOT mark the L and R axle and did not do them one at a time so they COULD of been swapped. Is it physically possible to screw them up and install them in the wrong position?

The left axle shaft is 1" longer.

Left axle shaft = 31.34", right axle shaft = 30.34".

Edit: The above #s are for an open diff or Trac Lok diff. If you have Vari Lok, the left axle shaft is 3" longer.

So is it physically impossible to install them wrong and drive over 1000 miles without the rear blowing up or throwing an axle!?
