Wj code questions

ok I have had my wj for about 6 months now, I was wondering how do u guys get the codes is there a certain procedure u have too do or what, yeah I know stupid question lol.

Buy an OBD2 scan tool. 20 bucks on amazon.

then to erase the codes (if dont have a scan tool)
Disconnect the battery and let sit for about 10min,
codes will be gone, I check weekly my codes just in case if something is happeing
