I have same problem. Looking for a link to repair manual for a 42re. Do you ave a 4.7 or 4.0? Trans are different. TCC lockup trouble could be valve stuck, solenoid, or bad convertor.

Same issue on my 2002..... solenoid has been replaced previously and so has the speed sensors. All that is left is the torque converter. My local Jeep dealer said they wanted to replace the torque converter and rebuild the tranny. I'm going to let them cause I have it on warranty. Otherwise just a new converter should do it for you

I haven't done it yet. Should be this week getting it done. I have a warranty though so it isn't going to cost me anything. If all that is wrong is the torque converter you don't need a transmission rebuild. They said they wanted to do one so I am not complaining with 117k miles.
