Code P0158

02 Overland WJ 105xxx

my WJ spit a code today

i figured out it was P0158 thanks to the on/off method that says, "Oxygen sensor input voltage maintained above normal operating range".

What does this mean? do i need to replace the O2 Sensor?

bump

i took it to auto zone and told the guy this he said its not the O2 Sensor but something causing the exhaust to be fuel rich thuse setting off the O2 sensor

An O2 sensor is a galvanic battery that provides the PCM with a voltage signal (0-1 volt) inversely proportional to the amount of oxygen in the exhaust. In other words, if the oxygen content is low, the voltage output is high; if the oxygen content is high the output voltage is low. The PCM uses this information to adjust injector pulse-width to achieve the 14.7–to–1 air/fuel ratio necessary for proper engine operation and to control
emissions

so what could cause fuel to not be combusted in the cylinder and thus fed into the exhuast? could it be the type of gas i put in? should i do new spark plugs?

any help is great

I know this is several years later but what was the outcome of this? My 2001 JGC limited is throwing the same P0158.

I've done plugs but i still get the code. I really think it is the sensor. It's probably shorted on itself.
