A/C compressor turns on and off

EDIT: Not that any one cares but I fixed it (I hope). I found out that the A/C compressor will turn on and off when its low on R134. So I hooked up the gauge and the can and when the gauge went as high as it would go before dropping, I would squeeze the trigger and let a little in. I did that about three times and then the A/C compressor stopped turning on and off! Then it gave me an actual reading, it was 15 PSI=BAD. So I filled it to 50ish (Thats what the can said for the ambient temp). And now it blows freezing cold. Success! Now if it gets warmer, I know I have a leak. I have a friend who has one of those sniffer things for R134, and I can use that.

I also read that is not the EVAP core that actually causes the leak, its the seal on the clutch for the A/C compressor. That'll be the first place I look.

I think I found the problem to my A/C not being very cold.

I found an A/C gauge in my garage, so I connected it to the port. It read in the right range for the ambient temperature, but once it got up to that point, the gauge needle drops to 0 and I hear the compressor "CLICK" and then the gauge slowly rises up again, then the compressor clicks, then the pressure falls, and repeats. It does this with the gauge on the port or off the port.

Its not supposed to do this right? Its a pretty loud click too.

Any thoughts?

Just an update, the A/C still blows ice cold about a year later.
