Only by the fact that you are changing the valve guides and seals at the same time.....but a new head is a very expensive way of changing them!

before you add any additive you can do 2 different tests to see what it is. Do a compression test to try to locate what cylinder(s) are causing the issue. After that do a leak down test to verify what the problem is exactly. Very easy tests to do just time consuming do to the spark plugs.
