blew upper radiator hose and....

my girls 99 wj limited blew the upper radiator hose and after a quick fix it started to nock and shake and bogged downed and died. checked the oil level and it was low and burnt so we put 4 quarts in and got a little better but still the same.... any suggestions? she has a rebuilt 5.2 with 45000 on it but 250XXXXX and the cluster

First of all, this is most likely about a ZJ right?

Second, I would be worrying about why it was 4 quarts low. If it was ran for a long time with only like 2 quarts in it, the engine might be toast.

Is it broken?

^^ Yep. Ruined cams and many other things that need friction.

Either way, doesn't sound good.... .... where did the oil go? major leak that wasn't detected or seen? and how long was it run like that. Not good if its smelling burnt at all.
