Wj Blend Doors

So I just called my Chrysler dealership to get new blend doors and the tech is apparently stupid. He said the the blend doors on Jeep Grand cherokees has never been a big issue! He insists that there is no way for him to get me the blend doors, he wants to sell me the whole damn housing.

Lovely. The tech must be new, only trained on WK2s or something.

There are a number of good places to get high-quality blend doors outside of the dealer. Check out www.jgcparts.com (the cheapest doors) and www.blendorstore.com (the best doors). I went with a Blen Dor Store all-metal single-zone conversion for mine. It was easy to install, not too spendy, and it's worked great for 3 years and counting. PERFECT fitment in the OEM housing.

Billzcat1 did you have dual zone prior to the fix? I do and was thinking about converting it

I might order some from jgcparts.com. I'm gonna pull the whole housing anyways because I'm running quite a bit of new wiring and it'll be easier to pass through the firewall and route wires while the dash is apart.

The difference is that if you buy from the blendorstore, you are buying from a totally unreasonable guy that you should hope to never deal with directly. His products are upgraded beyond what is necessary for long life, and you are paying for it. The Mopar doors are all you need. In fact, with the updated Mopar drive connectors, the factory original doors would have been just fine. Mopar saves money on the front door by keeping it plastic and reinforcing it in steel because you are able to replace the front drive connector, which was the original cause of failure anyway. If you insist on full aluminum doors, heater treater has some all-aluminum options, but please do not support Roland at the blendorstore.

My blend doors started going out this week. Now today the blower fan relay popped and I have no air at all. The heater treater is like 80 bucks, that seems rather expensive. Man, if it isn't one thing it's always another with this WJ. Such a f'in money pit...

Mine were done all aluminum before I bought my jeep... only problem is sometimes it still won't switch over, or there is a long delay... oh and the ac stays on when I turn the car off until I turn the dial to off.

Dorman has a couple of cheaper options. It's the way to go if you want to convert to single control because it's upgraded in all the right places and not upgraded where you don't need it and therefore don't have to pay for it. They also sell a full housing kit that can be dissected and used as a cheater method fix for a lot less. I would personally have faith in their upgraded ABS doors for the cheater method as far as the passenger side goes, but it's a bit up in the air whether it's enough.
