BGF TA KO vs General Grabber AT2
I'm running a 3" IRO lift with an adj trackbar and I recently installed a set of BFG TA KO's on my 04 WJ (265/70/17's) through America's Tire for about 1k and 0% interest 12mo, and I really like the tires... but I'm having second thoughts. I have 30 days to return the tires and swap them for another kind and am debating on getting the General Grabber AT2's at a slightly smaller size (265/65/17). As I understand besides the initial cost savings, the gas savings will be minimal, and my minor rubbing issue might be resolved... but is it worth swapping them? Thoughts? Or just trim and rest easy...

I've had both. If you ignore the cost factor, I would stay with the BFG's. They are a proven all-terrain tire. I just bought a set of Grabber AT2's for the WJ (265/70R16). The tread design is very similar and I'm sure they'll wear same or better than the BFG's, but the Grabber sidewalls are flimsy (I think they're Load rating C). I've had BFG A/T's on every truck and SUV I've owned and love the tires, but in all honesty, they've priced themselves way out of the market for an A/T. I paid $132 ea for the Grabbers and the same tire in BFG A/T would have been over $200.

You can buy the AT2 in two ply or four ply as I recall. It's not fair to rate a four ply BFG with a two ply AT2. Load rating on both four ply versio s should be similar.

TAKO's there's a reason why the tires have not changed tread patterns/designs in a long time. they are a proven tire

Wethepeople408,
Are you in norcal? I'm in san jose and just installed the OME lift on my WJ. I was planning on doing the BFG AT at the same size, because I want the load rating C. Is the rubbing really bad? Got any pictures?

Hey amremt408, ya I'm in SJ. I posted a link to my photobucket in the OP. I'd suggest getting them at Americas Tires on Brokaw, theyre flexible on pricing and have great service. Ask for Dave or Johnathan. They even hooked it up with a free spare of the same size (used and worn but same diameter) to match, until I decide on buying a matching 5th tire. Load rating C is great, anything heavier would be a rough ride and overkill. Jeep on!

Sweet! I'll check America's Tires out. I'm currently on my phone and couldn't get to that link... I'll check it when I get home...
