After Alignment Shops says I need an adjustable Ball joint

Replaced my broken tie rod and took the jeep to get aligned. The shop said I needed an adjustable ball joint to get my camber(caster?) cant remember which. On the alignment sheet it was barely out of spec. Can anyone give me some insight on this?

It depends on which way it is out and what the difference side to side is. Generally a difference side to side of more than half a degree may causes a drift or pull( Camber or Caster).
Camber that is out may cause excessive tire wear and a pull if there is a difference side to side.
Caster is a non tire wearing angle. It aids in returnabilty of the wheels and provides high speed stability. It can cause a pull if there is a difference side to side.
They do make after market ball joints that are off center that when rotated will adjust caster and camber. On a solid axel like a WJ, if either is out of spec, something is probably tweaked.
If it is driving straight and camber is not way out, I wouldn't sweat it.

Are you still running the stock track bar? when I first lifted my WJ I was told the same thing, that my camber was off and I needed an offset ballpoint. All I did instead was get a jks adjustable track bar installed it then took the jeep back to see if anything changed. My alignment turned out perfect, not really sure why or how the track bar fixed it but that was the only thing I did and it seemed to work. Just a thought.

I have plans to get a JKS adjustable track bar soon. I have the one that came with the IRO 3" springs but have .75" spacers on as well. Ill try to look at my spec sheet and see how much it really is off and post with the info.

A trackbar will not change the chamber at all. Ive seen brand new WJs that the camber was out of spec due to the axles shifting when they welded them up. If it doesnt pull and isnt wearing the tire down then dont worry about it.

Otherwise install a offset balljoint to get the chamber back to where you need it.

The problem lays with the alignment techs, not the track bar. If they got different results pre- and post- track bar then the techs are incompetent. Find a new shop.

^This, also if you can find a shop with the lastest aliment machine some shops use pretty old ones.
