99 WJ Limited front axle

front axle making major whirring sound, pulled driveshaft and not as bad, but still there...

pulled cover, brass looking shavings in gear oil.

pulled pin that is inside carrier and the gears the pin goes through seems loose on the pin, but pin fits in housing tightly.

any idea on what needs fixed?

I'd guess your bearings are shot. It's odd that it's brass though. Check your carrier bearings or pinion bearings. If your not familiar with setting up gears this might get a little complicated.

looked at the shavings and its not brass looking...they are silver

Its a 3:73 Dana, is this a Dana 30?

With the sloppy pin in the carrier gears, should I just replace all of it?
I can do the bearings no problem...but I cant personally rebuild the carrier itself.
