Wj '99 WJ 4.0 Selec-Trac Front Drive Shaft

Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can answer some questions I have. I need to replace my front drive shaft. I have a '99 WJ 4.0, with Slec-Trac. I'm looking for a used direct fit replacement.

My question is, What year WJ would have the same shaft? I've seen a few WJ part outs in my area, but they are different years, but they are the same motor/transfer case setup.

Also what type of joints are on this shaft? cv on both ends, or on just one end? I tried looking up the shaft on car-part.com, but one has to select what joints the shaft has.

Cvs both ends. I would buy a new one. They are not that expensive. You can never know if the new second hand one you buy is worn out or had been used on a Jeep at a different height so has a different wear pattern to how you are going to use it. Might not last five minutes on your GC.
I just bought one for mine and there was three different lengths available , mine turned out to need an 830 mm one but i could only find out for sure by measuring my old one! Even the factory parts list showed two different lengths for the same TC engine combo???!!! I paid £119 delivered for a brand new one... about $189 at todays rates.

Just replace the CV joints and keep your old shaft. I got lucky and found a used one for pretty cheap that had worked for a while now. If this one goes then I'll throw in my old one that I rebuilt.
