Cherokees and Grand Cherokees are not the same vehicle. You want the WJ forum for 99-04 Grand Cherokees--http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f310/

I'll move this over the proper forum section for you where your fellow WJ owners can best help you out.

RecIrc door has probably snapped off and is laying across the fan.....well that is what happened to mine and several others on here. Pull fan to check....its two trim holders and three screws and its out!

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got yourself an electrical problem!

okay I checked I took the fan out and your right there was a square plastic piece with this foam textured stuff on it that wasn't connected to anything I tried to pull it out but it was too big for the circular hole the fan came out of I put it all back together and now it makes this squeaky noise when I turn the air on but it's now coming out of the vents

You need to cable tie it in either the recirc position (over the outside vent) or over the outside air position (the grille your can see with the glovebox out....or you will have a bad draft from the out side. I chose outside air as its rarely hot enough to NEED the recirc in the UK!
