'99 GC Yes or no?

I am in the market for a GC. I want the new style. The 99's are priced much lower than the newer models and there are more on the market. My only reservation is that '99 is the first year of the new model. Frequently there are "bugs" that need to be worked out. This often makes the first year of the run more problematic, expensive to maintain and less desireabele to own. You guys have never steered me wrong. What are people's experiences?

I've got one - no real problems that I consider to be the fault of a first year model - only real problem I had was the damned power windows, but after getting them all replaced under warranty, it seems to be all cleared up since them. A couple of other minor problems, but after 85k miles, I expect that.......

I have 60K miles on my 1999 and the only thing I have replaced is the drivers side door lock. I noticed a slight rotor warping and am going to install the updated Jeep rotors/calipers/pads this weekend. I really push my Jeep and would highly recommend it. Preventative maintenance is key to any Jeep.

I had one (99 V8 Limited) and it was a POS. Most problems were fixed under warranty. If you pick one up now, I am sure any major problems have been fixed.

Could you take a minute to tell us what the problems were?

I have a '99 as well and it's awesome! No real problems other than some neglect from the previous owner which is being looked after from the dealer. I would recommend the V8 though instead of the I6 as it has a lot more power with almost identical gas mileage.
