Well you gotta find someone to buy your current jeep and then with the money you made from that you buy one with a straight 6. It's to much money and work to actually do a swap, everything needs to be changed

by everything you mean what? The trans works cooling systems the same motor mounts don't concern me. So engine harness ECM. I don't know that why I'm asking for the tech involved. Not to sound rude but the opinions involved in which motor is better or sell your rig buy a new one doesn't apply. It's my trail rig and my buddy has a built wj i6 which would free up all sorts of room for me. For street/dd I have a v8 limited that I love but for the rocks the power difference doesn't matter but the space would be nice

The Transmissions are not the same, the ECM needs to be replaced. The wiring harness needs to be changed, motor mounts might be different, but I am not sure. Honestly I would think selling yours and buying an I6 would be the most cost effective and way less time consuming.

By all means I wasn't trying to be rude or say which motor is better, sorry if I can l came off that way, my sense of humor doesn't translate to text very well haha. I haven't heard of anyone using the 545fre with the 4.0 so I'm pretty sure that would have to be changed. All the wiring and computers would a major pain, but if your up for it have at it haha

You need engine, trans, driveshafts, all wiring, computers, exhaust...

Essentially the only thing that you keep is your axles and body.

gcjeeping if I'm not mistaken is running the v8 trans behind his 6. I have access to a new built wj 4.0 and my trail rig has too many hrs in it to "start over" in a new rig. If I could pull the swap for a few g it'd be cool so I'm tryin to find out exactly what I'd need for the motor swap. Harness ECM bcm ect

That might be the deal breaker. The harness and stuff I have but chopping up my drivelines would suck

Driveshaft length is a minor and easy obstacle when talking about a motor swap.

The 545RFE will not bolt up to an I6.

Doing this swap to free up space under the hood seems very silly. Did I maybe misunderstand the intentions behind this idea?

the trans issue and driveshafts is the deal breaker I had a line on a bada## built wj 4.0 cheap with harness and all the bits but I just had custom beefy dom shafts built plus trans and tc are new ,well tc is new to me and a brand new griffin aluminum rad so I don't wanna dump those parts. Thanks for the input guys
