[QUOTE

But I would stick to around 4.10 gears 4.56s could be harsh on the highways with stock tires.

99' Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7 quadra dr[/QUOTE]

Hey, hopefully you check this again... I was thinking about doing 4.10's but my WJ will be a DD...how is it on the highway? If I could find some of those...3.76 gears, that might be nice. I won't probably do much crawling...maybe on occasion but not all the time...

Also...I would imagine that if a guy gears the back...he's gotta gear the front, too...that would get expensive quick!

sorry for the highjack...

Nope. just stock 3.55 D30's. Does anyone sell those 3.73's? All I can find are 4.10's

Have your engine stroked to a 4.6 L, the 4.0 is an easy engine to work on. Save your money on all the other things people have suggested here because none will produce results anywhere close to what stroking it will do. Can up your horsepower to over 300 with stroking. Save up and do it right.

look for a local shop who does engine work. You can buy a stroke kit for your engine. Do a google search or ask on this forum. Any engine rebuild shop can do it for you. Not sure what the cost is, I would guess about $1200-1500 complete. If you start doing all these other things that were suggested, the cost of those will add up and all of them together won't get you remotely close to 300 hp that a stroking will get. Trust me, you will be very happy.

I have the following on my wj and tj 4.0's:
K&N costume true cold air intake with prefilter
62mm bored throttle body
Bosch 4 hole injectors
2.5" flowmaster 40 catback
The difference with all these combined is great and definatly noticeable.
Next will be ceramic coat the intake and exhaust manifolds from heat
All in preparation for stroker motors but the damn engines won't die

I turboed my 95 4.0l ZJ. I know its not a WJ, but im sure it would be about the sam eto do. Mine with 33in tires and 3.55 gears, gets better gas mileage than when it was stock. 23mpg highway and it will run with my wifes 02 WJ with a 4.7HO in a race.

Stroke, port and polished head, cam, long tubes, matching exhaust, ported throttle body, fuel system, ignition system, intake system done right (k and n fipk alone isnt enough) and a tune should have you at a pretty nice power level. As for gears id honestly do 3.73 at that power level for fuel mileage.
