2003 4.0 4x4 TC fluid

Does the TC take the same ATF-4 as the tranny? Not easy to use search on a iPhone.

The 242 tc which you have takes ATF-4 the 247 which is behind the 4.7's requires a special fluid

You can get both engines with both TCs fyi. RC is right though 242(selec-trac) gets same as trans and 247(quadra-drive and quadra-trac 2) gets dealer 247 fluid or mobil424.

Yep, if anyone is unsure if they have the 242 T-case, just look at the plastic bezel around your shifters and if it says Selec-Trac, then you can use ATF+4. If it says anything else, you should ONLY use the special "Mopar 245/247/249" fluid (that's actually what it's called). Part #05016796AC. You can get it from the dealer easily.

3.5" lifted '03 Limited Quadra Drive WJ - OME HD coils, Bilstein 5100 shocks, JKS track bar, IRO extended links, OME 10mm spacers, Moog SS, JK Moab wheels w/ 265/70/17 (32") Goodyear Duratracs.

I know you can get the 242 with the v8 and vise versa but typically speaking the v8 gets the 247 more times than not

Don't need to drop the case. If you look at it from the back you will see the plate that says what model it is and yada yada. Slightly above that or near it will be a metric 10 Allen bolt. That is the fill hole, three inches below it and to the left is the drain hole. Make sure to take the fill bolt off first. You will need a pump of some kind to get the new fluid in there. Keep putting in fluid until it starts to come out of the fill hole, which is around 2 quarts. No need to buy the expensive ATF-4 either. It is all the same, so the store brand will do just fine
