2002 grand cherokee overland keyless entry issues

Hello i got me a 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland its nice but there is one problem, the person who sold it to me told me he had no keyless entry controls and i was sure np, i did get 1 key only. but my question here is, does my car come with keyles entry? when i use the key to unlock the car the alarm does not go off, nothing, when i lock the doors the red light infront of the dash were the keyless entry red light thing is it does blink. but it has never made a sound, i had an older 2000 grand cherokee laredo like this but when i used the key to open it since i didnt have the keyless entry control, the alarm would go off anytime i was going to open the door, as soon as i opened the door it went off so, my big question is that does it come with alarm? is it disabled? should i just install a aftermarket alarm instead? by posting my vin number online it shows that it does have a keyless entry but can it be disabled or just take it to my local alarm joints thank you

Yes, your Overland has keyless entry, you just don't have the key phobe.
Placing the key in the door to unlock will also deactivate the alarm due to the fact of it being a Transponder key with a chip in it.

Yea buy some replacements. Watch which ones you buy so it's not some knock-off and buy another key

And Welcome to the family. I have an Overland as well

Let me look, I'll get ya some links......

Key Fob - 1
Key - 2 (comes like the stock ones did, black primary and gray secondary)
**Note** these take a certain key stroke pattern to program, most likely will have to take to dealer or locksmith

Now the keys, you have to have old key to program new key, since you only have one orginal just get one key, and again will have to be done by dealer or locksmith. Try googling see if someone has the info out there.
Link - New Key

Call dealer and ask what they charge to program an extra key, that you bring them, and two key fobs. Should be half hour labor charge or hour whatever the min is they charge. May go ahead and get two keys so you'll have three on hand, you can program your own if you have at least two.
