2001 WJ Window Regulator HELP...
I’ve searched the FAQ's and came up with nothing.
To cut to the chase, I’ve gone to 10 junkyards in Houston and can not find my particular window regulator for my 2001 WJ. I am beginning to think Jeep used this one particular window regulator on my jeep and left me out to dry without making replacements. The bolt pattern configuration is vastly different than any I’ve found online and/or in junkyards.
I found a website that illustrated the exact regulator i have in mine, but can't get the part number. Can anyone else help?
Jeepin.com - Replacing a WJ Window Regulator
I'd greatly appreciate anyone who can lead me in the right direction to get the correct window regulator. FYI. Jeep says there was only one regulator used in this year.. Obviously not though!
Thanks,
Scott

Or..... you can have one installed for about $330. Or buy the part new for about $180. I went with the first option... expensive, but done in about an hour.

You DONT want to install a used window regulator in your jeep. You dont know the history of it and they break (eat up the wire in motor) all the time. Their not expensive from Summit Racing where i got mine and they are a piece of cake to install. Not a part you want to buy used. Get new door panel plastic snaps as well or everytime u close the door the panel will keep falling off.
its five screws then a piece of clear tape to hold up window while you pop out side clips for glass mounts and the whole thing pulls right out. Its a 20-30 min job. get the parts from Summit Racing or Rock Auto.
Good Luck

Really? Yikes!
I have the same window regulator in my '00 WJ. One trip to AutoZone, $70, and 45 minutes later and the job was done. That was my first time ever replacing one of those on any vehicle. It's really very easy, especially with that Jeepin.com guide.

Thank you everyone for your responses. The window regulator finding it’s the problem... its more finding the rather rare one they used in my Jeep. I've searched every data base/ parts website out there and they all have the same one. The window regulator that’s in my jeep is completely different. When i go to install the regulator motor into the door, none of the studs line up with the holes. I was hoping someone else experienced the same issue... once i figure this out, I’m going to post a detailed technical thread on this!
Looking at the original thread and open the link, you'll see a picture that illustrates the window regulator. If you look closer, you'll see that the unit has no "studs" to penetrate the door panel, that rather a screw attaches the regulator to the door. I give up… I am about to just hit jeep up and let it be their problem.

Are you sure yours has studs?
As far as I can remember, neither my old or new one did. They looked just like the one in the guide. About 5 of the screws don't get fully removed, just loosened up, since they just lift up and out of their slotted holes. If the new one doesn't come with any screws, you just swap them over, hang the regulator, start the rest of the screws, tighten it all down, and reattach the window.
EDIT: If yours is different from the one shown in the guide, posting some pictures would help a lot.

We have a 2000 GC. I have replaced 4 window regulators. I know there was a change in 01 or 02 to a different regulator. The newer one is almost double the price. Anyway it is a pretty easy job. I have had bad luck going the cheaper internet route on the window regulator. It broke a year later. I picked up a Mopar one at the stealership and it has been good for the last 3 years.
Finding the right part should not be a big deal. Get the vin/production date off the car and order a new one.

Okay, so this is the photo of the one i recieved. As you can see, this one has Studs. When i get home today i plan on yet again pulling the door apart and measuring the hole distances compared to the ones im finding at the junkyards and on the internet.
Stay tuned...

Mine has the studs as well. I have a 2000 GC. Looks like they sent you the old part. How much was it? The old one is much cheaper than the new one. I just looked at it again. It has the same bolt pattern as the one for my 2000. You need the newer part, that looks to be the old one.
Which door are you doing??? The one in the DIY is the pax front. You have a picture of the Drivers side front. The motor mounts facing the same way. If the bolts don't line up maybe it is the wrong side? I still think it is a better assumption that you have the old regulator.

Yea, this is for the driver side front on my 2001 GC. I just called Jeep and they're continuing to telling me this is the only one that Jeep made from 99-05...... I wish i could just get a part number...

I don't understand this. I have an 01 and I bought and installed the cheapo one off ebay. It works perfectly. It DOES look different than the original, but I read that Jeep one was a poor design in the first place.

Call a different dealer. They are Wrong. There are 2 different regulators. My 00 has a different one than my friends 02. The switch happened somewhere between 00 and 02. If they are telling you that they are all the same from 99-05 they have no idea what they are talking about.

Upon Further Review........
The regulator changed in March of 2000. Build dates prior take the older regulator. From March of 2000 through all of 2002 used a different regulator. Looks like they sent you the older version. Time for a refund.
I have a new one in the box and I see you live in Houston but unfortunately it is the older one.....
