18" wheel with 6" backspacing
well I have searched the faq's and haven't been able to find any info on this but I have found a good deal on wheels for my 02 wj however, they are 18x10" with 6"of backspacing. My question is how much lift do I need to run these and what tire size to go with? Another question is how will it look? I was thinking along the lines of 2" of lift.
thanks,
Jaybob

well you dont need any lift to run those wheels...its the tire size that will determine how much lift you need...depending on ur WJ you already have 16 or 17 inch wheels with eithe 6 or 6.25'' of back spacing

That's a WIDE tire and a wide wheel although not particularly tall (30"). I bet you'll be rubbing on the rear shocks and front control arms. Plan on running wheel spacers. I personally think that's a ridiculous tire size. The WJ is not a Porsche and never will be.

With the kinds of tires you can get in the 275/55-18 size, you won't be getting too far off the pavement. Street slicks only!

So these particular rims might not be worth the time and effort it sounds like. I suppose a 18x10 inch rim is not meant to be on a jeep.

Ok sorry fellas I made a mistake, these are actually 9 in. wide wheels. Although this is still plenty wide how do you guys think it would look?
They are 18x9 rozzi "deep" wheels.
THanks,

The back space is the number anyone really cares about. You'll rub all over with just about any tire larger than stock on those.

Since it keeps nearly stock backspacing but is 2" wider, the wheel will stick out 2" further from the fender. All you can get in 275/55-18 are minivan tires. Why you'd want steamrollers with mediocre compound/construction/pattern is beyond me.

Hey billzcat, sorry to keep bothering you guys. What do you mean exactly by steam rollers? I have no experience with this particular tire but the Kumho Estca is an all terrain tire available in this size. There seems to be some very knowledgeable people on this forum and I appreciate the feedback. Is there any tire and lift combination using these rims that yeilds me a better choice of AT tires and makes sense? Part of the reason I am entertaining the idea of these wheels is because they are local and the ones on my overland are shot.
THanks,

The only one i see in that size is an all season car tire.
Won't be going very far off pavement with that.
