Wj -12 wheather caused brakes hissing ?

We're in a deep freeze up here
Started up 2 mornings ago been doing it
Since , brakes not reacting different really
Just kinda feels like I'm pressing something
Like a whoopsie cooshin or something
Some one said that could b bad n I need to get
It fixed asap I love my jeep n absolutely need it
First car so any help would be awsome

Hissing? I'd wonder if your brake booster is leaking a little. The hose hooked up to your brake booster could be cracked a little as well. Have someone step on the brakes while you look/listen under the hood.

Well that is better than my sons WJ. He must have had some water in the fuel and it froze. Threw in some Heet and after a day in the garage it finally runs again.

Mine has been doing the same thing.

Last cold snap it would hiss every once in awhile, but went away as the weather warmed up. Now its always hissing.

New brake booster from RockAuto was delivered today, hoping to swap it this weekend. It seems like people with '99s have this problem more often than other years, not sure if thats because there are more 99s, have more issues, or...?


The hissing is the #1 characteristic of a blown, or blowing booster. Supposed to be a pretty easy job, about an hour of work due to some inadvertent work done by Chrysler engineers.
