I called Jeep and they said "the full size spare should only be used for emergency purposes, and is not intended for your to drive on it any farther than the nearest repair location." What?!? A full size spare shouldn't be driven on? What then makes it different from a NOT-full size spare? Any comments?
When any manufacture says full sized spare now days, it just means the spare is the same diameter and load rating as the others. Its not just Jeep. Many don't have a spare, have spare donuts, or have collapsable spares. Full size is a marketing term to differentiate from those types. They've been using those terms for years, not so much on trucks where space is not an issue.

Do you have a better term?

So I've been reading and reading trying to find the answer (I'm moving fast as there's a good deal on the tires on Craigslist I don't want to miss) and it looks like 255/75/17 will definitely fit on the 17x8.0 stock Laredo wheels. Now I'm trying to figure out if it'll just rub like crazy.

The stock tires are 245/70/17 which from my math is 9.64'' wide and 30.5'' in diameter
The Rubicon tires are 255/75/17 which is 10.04'' wide and 32'' in diameter

Since I'll use the same wheels clearing the calibers and all that won't be an issue. It seems like I should be able to fit a .4'' wider and 1.5'' taller tire but I'm guessing it'll rub on full lock.

So I've been researching all day and nobody here responded so I couldn't find a clear answer. I notice A LOT of people running 275/65/18's which are the same diameter and slightly wider than the 255/75/17's. So by that logic I'm going to take a chance. I'm going to pick up the tires and I have an appointment in 3 hours to have them installed on my stock 17x8.0 Laredo wheels. I really hope they fit without rubbing.

Note: Due to BS and Offset this is the biggest tire that will fit on these wheels if you have QL. I tried a Cooper AT3 and GY MTR in 275/65r18 with no luck.
Bfg 265/65/18 with mb razors is another example of successful combo with QL and no rubbing. I just love those tires and the offset is pretty good, could go with higher offset to avoid stones flying around.

Will add pictures when I have figured it out.

I'm looking at doing similar for my '13 GC Trailhawk - what did you buy for the TPMS? Any specific product?

I looked over this thread, did a forum search - no luck:

Will 265/70R18 fit on a QL WK2? I am looking at the General Grabber AT-2 on a 18x8.5 Black Rock 910B wheel. I am also installing the Bushwacker Fender Flares, which supposedly offer 0.5" of extra room. Thanks everyone.

265/70/18 is a little tall without a lift kit. With QL at normal rideheignt it will look a little squeezed. 265/65 is an easier fit, still 1" taller than stock (31.5"). If you want a chunkier look, you can go with 285/60/18 like I did, still 31.5" tall, but almost an inch wider.

I did the 255 70 18 for off road and have been very happy, same width, 32" Diameter. Fits a QL GC no issues. What I like is I can now air down and not lose any ground clearance from stock non aired down (probably still higher actually. I figure I am at 12" ground clear or so in OR2

My guess is no, too wide for the height. 255 70 18 gets you a 32"

A 275/60/18 is 32.5-33" tall depending on brand. With the black rock wheels pushing the tire out 26mm more than stock, you may need to trim the front fender liner to get clearance when the wheel turns. The rear should be ok. Using wrangler wheels with 45mm offset would tuck them in tighter and help with clearance.

See post 295. There are some variance between brands, so you may want to check the specs at the tire manufacture's web site.

Typo, I meant the size the OP referred to, 265/70/18.

Need new winter wheels and tires

Just bought a 2013 Overland and need some ideas on winter wheels and tires. The choices for wheels and tires are limited. Any ideas?
