Windshield cracked from AC?

I did not park my car in the garage last night cause my side was filled with powerwheels and kids toys. Today it's about 87 degrees at 11am. I went out side and loaded my car to go to the pool and remote started it to cool off while I got the kids ready. When I came back to my car there was a 18" crack running across my windshield. So the AC cause this

I meant did the AC cause this?

Not a chance - if the heat differential did cause it, it was from a defective windshield, not the AC and was just a matter of time.

That's what I thought, I mean Cleveland isn't the hottest place so that shouldn't happen. I literally went into my car and no crack, started it and let it run for 5 minutes and came back to the crack. No chips just a clean crack from the pillar 18" out. Now the fun begins...warranty, good luck...insurance, rates go up...out of pocket, would rather spend my money on other things, but I guess it's got to get fixed.

87 deg outside shouldn't cause it...like the previous poster said, it's most likely due to a defect. Trying to get it replaced with warranty may be challenging depending on how good your dealer's customer service is. Good luck!

Was there a reflective windshield screen on?

If you have full glass coverage, you shouldn't see a rate increase unless you're replacing them more than once per year typically. I have never had a rate increase and typically change every 1.5 years.

No reflective windshield screen. It usually always in my garage or in my works parking garage. I just left it out in my driveway for less than 12 hours.

I'm going to call my insurance company first thing tomorrow.

If they want to raise your rates over that, it's time to look for a new company.

drballard33 06-24-2013 06:35 AM

My insurance agent confirmed that they will not raise my rates over the windshield.

There are several threads about cracked windshields here on this site over the past few years. It seems like there might be too much pressure on the windows or something like that?
