My engine is making an odd sound that began yesterday. I drove the Jeep three times. The sound began when I left the house the second time. It sounds like the power steering is low but the fluid was normal and I even added some since it was near the "min" level but the sound continued even after it. It can really only be heard at idle or just pulling off from a stop. Once at a normal speed ie: 30 mph+ it cannot be heard until back down to a stop. The sounds doesn't change with streering wheel movement or any other braking, accelerator pushing, etc.
It seems...seems as if it were coming from more of the passenger side near the alternator but that is really just a guess. Obviously my alternator/battery have a strain on it because of the winch and air compressor but I only use the winch with the engine running. The air compressor (max 15 amp draw) ran for about 30 seconds with the engine off between the first and second times I drove the Jeep. I was messing with the compressor and needed a little bit of air so I switched it on. I don't think that would have caused an alternator problem but perhaps. No CEL or errors. Everything functions normally it is just the whine. I will be taking it to the dealer tonight and gonna leave it for them to check out. Put the factory "tune" back on it. I dont think the Diabosport tune has anything to do with it but again...just a guess.
