I just pulled the trigger on:

They are going on a stock 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo.

255/70R17 is only a little under an inch wider and bigger than the stock 245/70R17 tire size so there shouldn't be any fitment issues. Pro Comp 98 Steelies have a -6mm offset, so combined with the spacers, this set should stick past the fender a little over ~ 1.5 inches. Will post pictures as soon as they are mounted.

I reckon it's going to look rather Mexican with those spacers installed. It'll be effectively 3" backspacing...silly.

Am I doing something wrong? With the stock 17x8 +56 offset, I am getting a 6.7 backspace. I am looking at buying 17x9 steel with 4.25 backspace. I am trying to figure out the offset number, if I did the calculations right, I got a -19 mm offset which will stick out just over 3 inches. With the 17x9 4.25 backspace I am looking at putting on 265/65x17 tires which is about 3/4 in wider than the stock 245/70x17. I would like to get 1 in taller and 1 in wider tires with no lift if possible with no rubbing.

The calculator at http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp is a good way to compare wheel and tire sizes.

A 17x9 wheel with 4.7 inch backspace would have a -9mm offset, which would stick out about 64mm farther than the OEM, about 2.6 inches.

You may want to check the fitment and tire discussion stickies for something similar.
