Each time I have renewed, the price has been about $80 (before taxes). At first, they offer $144, I tell them a friend recently renewed for $77 and they offer that price. This price does not include traffic.

Just called and got the 4.17/month offer they sent me. I canceled my old radio (sold the car) and the wk2 must have been on a 3 month trial. I used the offer I got on the old radio (just didn't tell them it was for a different radio) and it was as easy as that. I tried changing my wifes radio to that plan too but they said no since it was already active (and they already have my business.) i could probably cancel and play that game but i have no time for a few bucks. so at least for now the jeep has a good deal. Lets hope I remember to cancel/change before it renews otherwise that's how they get you.

Eventually, you just get sick of playing "gotcha" with them.

Yep. Every six months I call and cancel (just keep saying "no" until they shut up and cancel it). About a week later you'll get a letter in the mail for $25/6mo. ($4.17/mo.).

6 months later repeat the process.

I've done this many many times in a row now and it always works. Just be sure to cancel at six months or you'll be charged the full rate for six months in advance. I just put a reminder in my calendar.

Just how long before your subscription end date do you call and cancel?

So if your "trial" period is about to expire do you have to call and cancel so that they don't start "billing" you at the $14.99/month rate?

No they sent me letter way before that, then I call and they didn't want to negotiate saying that $14.99 was the lowest I could get.

Webb-
Did you tell them you wanted to CANCEL or did you ask for a better price?

I use an app that's just as good.
TuneIn radio. Its great, a lot more choices and free.

Uses some data on your phone plan though.

I just told them "a friend" had recently renewed for a $79 1-year deal and they matched that with no questions. I added the travel-link for another $2/month (like the weather and gas prices). I used a credit card that is going to expire before the 1 year is up, so no risk of them continuing the subscription without my OK first. My wifes car is 5 years old and has XM, and I go through this crap every 3 years (I get her the 3-year deal). I seriously wish I had gotten the $280 lifetime deal when I renewed her car after the free trial. I don't even know if they offer that any more.

I use Sirius sparsely, but like to have it for trips. I do agree that the sound quality has degraded the past few years. And I also agree that anything over $8/month is too much.

If they give you any crap about wanting a better price, give them a "I just had my overtime at work cut and can't afford that much", or "my wife just lost her job" story. Works every time...
