Yea we are all talking heads.... The issue is buyer remorse... Honestly, I have the funds to get what I want, I do not by a vehicle based on the MPG lies on the sticker, if we all did that we would be driving the kook mobiles...ie prius, scions, you know the lib mobiles... OK..that said..most jeep owners are YUPPERS....they want to keep up with the jones next door...Rarely do we buy a 40,000+ vehicle because we NEED IT. If you want to buy for economy get the Jeep Patriot with a 4 banger.. problem is... Mom doesn't look cool dropping the kids off to school in it, and the family doesn't look cool showing up to the family reunion in it.. Thats fine.. If you want a V6 for the economy...FINE... thats cool..but some of these guys get on here and rip *** about hos $hitty the Hemi is and how its this and NOT that... Guy compared it to a FRIKKIN NISSAN 4 banger... I beleive you sir are in the wrong forum... Buy what you want.. its is still a free country... that up for debate after November though...Again if you pull ANYTHING, live in high altitude, SNOW country, Hilly Terrain..GET THE HEMI... if you live in Phoenix and you never go west over the hills...Buy a V6. Both fine, both great... We own Jeeps...MOVE ON!

I don't know if I would really call Jeep owners Yuppers. I would reserve that for the Range Rover drivers. I've driven plenty RRs and they are not worth anywhere close to 80k+ as a street car. Their interior is a mess for a car that price. Honestly the only expensive SUV I would ever consider buying is the Cayenne Turbo. I've driven a wide variety of luxury SUVs and I would still buy a Jeep Overland over all but the Porsche as a road car.

I agree on the latest Cayenne, and I know it's their tradition, but I can't get used to the ignition switch on the left side of the steering column. Even with their version of the optional keyless ignition, you still have to put the key fob into the ignition switch, then press the start button on the right side of steering column.

Kind of ridiculous.

If it Aint Air Cooled

It aint a Porsche. Real Porsches have engines in the rear and are air cooled.
If you want to go real old school rear mounted engines, four cylinders and four cams. Front engine Porsches are just really nice Audis and VWs.

And if its handling isnt nasty enough to bite hard ie with trailing throttle oversteer then it really isnt a Porsche. has been a long time since Porsche made real Porsches.

A Cayenne is just a really nice VW with a very long option list.

RIP Butzi.

I now follow this thread for the amusement factor. The v6/v8 debate is funny. Buy what you want/ can afford. And of course when someone talks trash about your v6 talk bout the other vehicles in your stable (personally have the v6 of course have a charger SRT8 I can lean on when dimed out about how lame my v6 is). Sighhh. For me didn't need or want the hemi. Personal preference. If the v6 was underpowered or got horrible gas mileage like my 2000 Dakota v6 I would be the first to tell someone to get the v8. But these two engines are good just depends what you need it for.

Haha yeah that definitely is ridiculous. Porsche always lags behind in implementing tech that is standard on even economy cars of the same model year. Also, the audi/vw/porsche on board computers have never been all that great.

I chose the V6 (2011) because it has plenty of power to get the job done (for me). However I am extremely dissatisfied with the 5 speed trans. I have had it in to 2 dealers numerous times and no joy. After a poor showing (transfer case went bad at 7k miles) with a 2004 JGC I tried again, but Jeep has lost me forever this time. I really like everything else about the WK2 though. Sadly I know someone else with a 2011 WK2 who is experiencing nightmare ECU issues.

My wife chose the Pentastar v6. I generally always choose the biggest engine available. I have to say we have owned it for a month did a road trip to TN over spring break. I think its a great engine I have no regrets. Its powerful and got 23 mpgs going 80 mph even in the mountains. My wife commutes 1.7 miles each way to work so city gas mileage is pretty bad about 15-16 mpgs. Its was not a cost choice as money is not an issue the v6 makes decent power and this is the first Jeep I have owned that I can say its "kind of fast". Its more powerful then my WK 4.7

I don't get it. So what would be the reasoning not to get the Hemi? Money has to play a roll here somewhere. If it's not at the time of purchase, then its the thought of getting poor milage which in turn cost money...

With our Hemi we get 14.5. Don't know yet about long drives, because we have not done yet.

My money is not an issue and not one that is important to the discussion.

Its my wifes car and Its pretty powerful and gets better gas mileage then the hemi. Our mileage would be better if my wife commuted more then a 1.7 miles to work and got above 30mph. I own 5 vehicles. 3 of them get lousy gas mileage because 3 are pretty heavily modified and the other two are Grand Cherokees so again not the best mileage. I am not saying the Hemi is not a good engine I just don't see it as a worth while choice for the money. So I guess you are correct it is a money thing...Its just not worth the extra money as the pentastar V6 makes really good power and suited our needs. It was black, had leather, full view sunroof, nav, heated seat etc. Engine was not a big deal as if I want to go fast I will just step behind the wheel of my Mustang that would blow the doors off most vehicles.

Oh and Steve I find it interesting that your grand has a V6 and you couldn't convince your wife to get the hemi and obviously money was a deciding factor for you since you don't want to dump money into the tank every week.
Pentastar 16 City 23 Highway
Hemi 13 City 20 Highway
Its not really much of a difference won't really matter much in my opinion when filling the tank.

Yes money was the reason I did not push for the Hemi. I traded in a full size Range Rover that was getting about 16MPH avg. and that was driving me nuts every time I pulled into the gas station. I do miss the torque of the big V8, but believe me if money was not part of the equation I would surly opt for the big motor every time. No reason not to.
