While I must concede that the V6 may be a more efficient engine, it is not as effective of an engine in 4,500+ pound vehicle as the V8 would be. After all, we are talking about Grand Cherokees here
In a vehicle as large and heavy as the new GC, I would much rather have the Hemi to move that weight along.

Well last tank lasted over a month but we took a few short 50 each way road trips. Usually 450miles on 3/4 tank no problem. that y we get 20-23mpg in town.
But how long a tank last is not a measurement when talking about time not distance.
Her commute is 4 miles each way.

2 months out of a tank ? Must be the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Planet Green Hybrid ? So you're saying, you stop by a gas station only 6 times a year ?

The hemi just glides the v6 pulls. I drove both and the decision to buy the hemi was easy. I have had my jeep for over a year and just love the hemi!

The V6 purred and the Hemi growled. Drove both and it was an easy decision to get the V6. Btw, my Jaguar XJ Supercharged (stretch limo for long trips in California) also purrs and gets 17-18 around town and 22-23 on the highway. But when I get on it it growls, 0-60 in 5 flat, and gets about 8 mpg while doing that. Or maybe less. OK can we decide that we all make the decisions on engines to meet our own needs and if we screw up we can trade for whatever we want? Please?

did you miss the part where her commute is 8 miles?
everything else is in that 4 miles to work.
so april is lets estimate up and say 170miles( 21 work days) . lets say ~21 gallons till the low light and lets say a bad 18mpg, that is 378miles. so 2 months when she just takes it to work is 340miles. but i usually steal it on the weekends ( we usually go out to the capitol adn that is ~90 mile round trip) and i fill it up about once a month.
now my commute is about 17times longer so i make up for it. that is why i usually ride my motorcycle when it is above 40 deg.

I'm currently at 15.3 avg on my 2012 Hemi with less than 2700 miles on it. I don't know how accurate the avg is, but I'm tracking mine with the trip setting on the EVIC as well. Currently it's at 510 miles all city driving with NO highway or stop and go traffic and about 50 DTE, and that's not all the miles that I put on it since I reset it. I ran probably about 20 miles or so before I reset the trip setting after I filled it up. I've been as high as 18 avg mpg all city with no stop and go ever since I've learned how to control the MDS more, but I get pedal happy sometimes. This is my first Hemi as well as V8, and I have zero complaints and no regrets about choosing it over the V6. = )

The MPG on the EVIC has been spot on accurate and I have a 2011 with 20K on it.. I average around town...15.3 which is great. I do not "control" the MDS.. some people on here seem to think it doesn't work right, or lags? You should never know the difference.. If your MDS doesn't engage or disengage seemlessly check the type of oil you are using.. It clearly states MDS Hemi REQUIRES 5w 20... Most dealers only have 5w 30 bulk.. and to be honest the kid at jiffy lube could give a **** less what he puts in. The dealer local to me has to get the 5w 20 off the shelf in quart bottles... You may have the wrong oil in...
