2014 Grand Cherokee Summit 5.7l - opened the console and removed the rear cover inside covering the guides for the hinges. There is a black object under that cover that has a bright orange strap connected and taped to it. It has a large lower case "i" on a sticker on it. On my Mercedes ML and GL the "i" indicates it is the cellular module that provides the link to their "embrace" service. However I cannot imagine why I would need a orange hand strap for a cellular modem. What purpose does it serve? I almost removed it to see but thought I might need to ask about it before conducting exploratory surgery.
Transmission park pawl manual release, like pattiK said.
if you shifter does not move, it's a way to get it to release and move car onto flatbed or something.
