Uconnect, texts, and iphone OS 7.1.2

Apparently if you want to receive incoming texts to your iphone and have them display on your screen (I have the navigation version) Jeep only supports up to OS version 7.1.2 on the iphone. I just did the latest update to ucoonect on my car. Now I get the messages "button" but inbound texts still fail to show up. Has anyone had any success with inbound texts showing up on the radio with iPhone with OS 7.1.2 for the iphone 5s (not sure if the model of iphone matters)

My understanding is that Apple doesn't allow for this feature to work.

Works for me. Latest IOS.

Make sure you enable "Show Notifications" under Bluetooth on the phone, for the Uconnect device.

Go to Settings > Bluetooth and find Uconnect under devices. Click the little "i" icon and make sure "Show Notifications" is on. If that doesn't work, delete Uconnect from the device list and re-pair it with your radio.

You're understanding is incorrect.

I didn't know that was an option - excited to hop in the car after work to see if this works for me!

You cannot send text messages from the system via an iPhone. It will let you assemble them via voice commands, just not send.

Also, I've seen it get confused a few times. Sometimes not displaying the text messages. Sometimes displaying emails.

I have done the check notifications and deleted it from both Bluetooth lists and repaired it. :-(
@MJS - do you have the 7.1.2 iphone 5 OS and the latest uconnect software on your radio.
I figure there is some combination; especially if it works for someone else.

@MJS. Well then I am stumped. So the text messages show up in the messages section of the phone screen? May be a dumb question but this jeep is only a few days old.

I forgot to mention....I have a certain influence over network electronics/computers. I call it Computer Fear Factor (CFF). My CFF is through the roof. Sometimes I merely have to look at a computer and things that were broke/not working, start working. I really can't explain it.... lol

Yes, they show up and the computer says "New text message from xxxx". And then you get the option to listen to it. And it reads it out to you.

I also have that influence over computers. It happened today at work and it was over the phone.

Has it worked for anyone for 2012 Overland (730n)? OR does it only work with newer model?
