Six Speed Version??

I've read rumors that that next iteration of the WK2 will be delivered with a 6 speed transmission. Any truth to this?

If so, I'm inclined to wait for that model. 95% of my driving is in the city and I would love to have the gains, no matter how insignificant, of having a sixer to slightly improve mileage.

I know... no one buys an SUV for it's mileage so, please save the taunts.

The new transmission you're referring to is an 8 speed. You will not see MPG gains in city driving as the 8 speed will provide highway mileage improvement where it will get to the higher gears.

I was under the impression we wouldn't see an 8 speed until the 2013 model? A diesel would be nice

The rumors I was hearing mentioned the 8-speed showing up with the the mid-year refresh in 2013 as well. It would be an improvement over the 5-speed, but not as much as getting the VM Motori 3.0L diesel federalized for sale here.

241 h.p. and 406 lb. ft. of torque.... Jeez.

I'm all for a diesel as well. I've owned a Jetta TDI and it performed amazingly with an average MPG of 44.5 with a mix of urban and highway and great acceleration of 246lbs ft torque from a 2.0 litre 140Hp engine.
