My GC has about 7,500 miles on it now and recently went in for service and I mentioned to the dealer that in the mornings (or after my Jeep sits for 5 or more hours) when I first start up and switch into reverse there is a rough lurch and clunk sound. This happens when parked on completely flat garage floor in 76 deg garage. It feels as if it were parked on hill without having set a parking parking break when switching to reverse. When I brought it in for service I described this and the dealer allowed it to sit for a while prior to the tire and oil, and the tech noticed a slight rough reverse gear switch (according to the service advisor when picking up). I was told they "re learned" the system and that it should help. I don't understand the details of that but likely reprogrammed the transmission...?
It still feels rough but not quite as bad. I worry I am causing some early wear on the transmission every time I go into reverse at a cold start. When the vehicle has been driving and I make a quick stop and get back in, reverse is as smooth as it should be.
Any suggestions I can talk to the dealer about. This is my first Jeep and could use a little helps.
