Is this P64 the same recall? The Gov't letter link is below and it gives a date range of "certain" vehicles manufactured October 3, 2013, to April 11, 2014.
This one is also for ESC but a pure software deal vs the OP's posted one of ESC disabled from cover that causes blah blah and the fix is part/all physical.
Looks like the usual press release confusion just before the recall is finalized. Many media reports, the US DOT letter and the FCA press release use the same 132,223 pool size when discussing both ESC "recalls", debris cover version and no debris cover/software update only version. Since I am in the date range we shall see soon enough if I am one of the "certain" vehicles.
It's an easy one, no biggie.
And this doc clearly shows they are the same "recalls"....
"Description of the Cause : • The root cause was determined to be noise on a PCB communication line, between
the main and the sub-microprocessor, resulting in an over-run condition during an
18-msec window at vehicle start-up.
• On October 3, 2013, a plastic shield was added to the SCCM to protect the Printed
Circuit Board (PCB) from metallic debris.
• The noise is the result of the debris cover coming into contact with the PCB
communication lines, while the micro pins are being configured and during a period
of higher humidity, causing a short (noise).
• This noise, which may be treated as data during the 18-msec window, results in an
over-run condition which freezes communication between the two micros."
