Radar detectors

I know, I know, don't speed and you don't need one!!!!!

I do a fair amount of highway driving back and forth to the lake/mountains and I can already tell that with the HEMI I may unintentionally drive a little faster than in my JK with the V6.

I know the good ones are in the $400-500 range, can anyone recommend a particular brand/model based on their past experiences?

Can't go wrong with an Escort. I must say, however, that I don't use one anymore. When I had one, I got 3 tickets in 5 years. Then I stopped using one about 5 years ago... and started setting cruise at 9 over the limit, and haven't had a speeding ticket since.

Thus, radar detector = 3 tickets. No detector = no tickets.

Been using a Valentine 1 for over a decade (we have 2 and I've upgraded both 3 times). Once you get used to the directional arrows it's hard to go back. Worth every $$$ IMHO.

Certainly nothing wrong with Escort and their GPS tagging is pretty cool for filtering out noise. I would also check out their new Redline RedLine - Escort Inc.

Save your money,by the time they go off your caught anyways.Plus there illkegal in some states and you will be less likely to get a warning if that cop see's one hanging off your windshield no matter how nice you are.

They are only illegal in 1 state, VA and if you buy the right one, know how to use it and like to go fast it will pay for itself quickly.

My V1 always lets me know where they are. With time to adjust speed.

V1 hands down. That coupled with an Escort laser jammer has kept me ticket free for years. *knocking on wood right now*

That has been my experience too. I stopped using one about 5 years ago and haven't got a ticket since. **knock on wood**

Here: Rockymountainradar.com I have the rmr-c450 its a combo detector/scrambler. Yes it's legal. It does not send any thing out, just slows the radar coming to the vehicle. Here's a comparison listing.

They just came out with a new model, the rmr-c475.

You won't be disappointed with the Rockymountain radars.

I have been using the Escort Passport 8500 for about a decade, and I cannot count the number of times that it has saved me. I try never to leave home without it. It is way more important than my Amex card. I even travel with it for use in rental cars.

I will note that after ten years it is getting a little tired. The cord wrapping is falling apart at the RJ11 connector, and the window mount internals have come unglued. I have patched it back to life, but a new one is probably in my future. I have gotten my money's worth. I paid about $250 from Crutchfield back in the day.

I would not leave the house without my Beltronics, it has saved me at least +50 in the past 3 years and previous to that had an older model Beltronics which also saved me many times. I'll never forget when I was driving on I95 in SC on my way to FL from NJ at 3AM and doing +90mph. The radar detector went crazy, I slowed down and there was a cop waiting for me like a kid on Xmas night. I waved him good night kept driving. I only recommend Beltronics or Valentine... but they are expensive at almost $500

The RMR units have failed more tests than they have passed, use it at your own risk.
