Question

Hello
Im interested in buying WK2 summit version of GC on some cars auction.
The auction does not shows what 4x4 system is installed.
My question is , if EVERY version of WK2 summit v8 5.7 hemi has the QD-II included? or mayby some has QT-II?

It is really hard to check if out of jeep.com.

Every V8 Summit built since August 2010 or so has the QD as part of its standard equipment, probably all of them regardless. They may also have QTII listed as thats the transfercase that goes with QD.

Every 2011 V8 Overland from that time has QD, later years you probably have to look for ORA II.

The Off Road Adventure II option package. Includes skid plates, tow hooks, 18in tires.... and the the case of a V8, the QuadraDrive.

All V8 Summits have QD, other models vary by year and option package.

Cold Case, don't all Summits come with quadra-lift which is quadra-tracII with the air suspension but you need to get option ORAII to get the LSD equipped quadra-drive?

No, V8 Summits have come standard with QD for years (along with QL). I don't think you can put ORAII on a Summit in 2014, dunno about other years.

For 2013-2014 WK2 models you need V8 and ORA II. (you can't get a V8 in the base Laredo)

For 2011-2012, QD was standard on all V8 overlands and could, in theory, be put into any V8. The ELSD sometimes was in short supply, however, and restricted. As of Jan 2011, QD was restricted to Overlands (and Summits) only. I think the Limited model restriction was lifted sometime in 2012 at which time you could get QD as part of the Limited's ORAII package.

Some earlier 2011 V8s were built with QD and without QL. There are a couple on this forum. But since that time all QDs also happen to have QL.

Clear as mud, what complicates the availability are the restriction time periods that I don't think are recorded anywhere. By the way its not unusual to find a restriction on a certain option if they run out of parts (the 430N radio for example). Those usually clear up in a month as parts become available. The QD restrictions had a tendency to be long term as they typically held ELSDs in reserve for Overland production.

ok, so when looking for 2013 GC-II overland in auction, i have to take a look if stands on 18in tires. If not, probably it does not QD-II
for 2012 it does have any difference
But i think they must have a build sheet for every car, and that option should be listed.

by the way:
in that scenario, where a car is stuck, two rear wheels are on a really slippery ice, and only one front wheel has a possibility of pulling car, QD-II will handle it as far as i know there is no LSD in front?? (QD-I has it)
i had that scenario with grand vitara 2007, which has open axles , not a chance to run from snowdrift.

All WK2s are equipped with brake traction control. If any one wheel on a 4WD has traction it will receive enough power to move the vehicle off of ice. You don't need QD for this, any 4WD will be sufficient.

If you can look under the rear end, QD diffs have a motor hanging off the driver's side. Others will not.

how about the failure possibility of this car? I know that with diesel engines there are plenty of roblems, so i avoid diesel.
