Opinions on a 2014 that I am considering purchasing...

I'll get straight to the point-I am looking at a 2014 laredo e that I found. I originally thought the 2014's would be out of my price range, so I am very much surprised that i found this one. However, it does have a red flag-

http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=COO_0

On the carfax it lists a recall for "Manufacturer Safety recall issued
#N58 REPROGRAM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & ABS / ALT. GROUND". Should I be worried about this? They are asking a hair under $30k for a pretty well equipped laredo e, should I take this as a "too good to be true" vehicle, or pursue further? Thanks in advance for the input.

I had that recall done on mine. Some minor issues before it, now the vehicle performs as intended with no further issues. Nearing 6k miles now and had my first oil change done at the time of the recall, vehicle has been great and I have no complaints.

I would ask to see the window sticker to it, if it is just a bare bones laredo e you might be able to get a similar deal on a brand new one, or within 2k or so. If anything it might give you a little room to negotiate the price a hair lower. As for the recall don't worry about it, if it hasn't been done it takes around 2 hours to do and all it is is a software update and they have to check one bolt on a ground strap.

Its not a bare bones, it has items like the trailer tow pkg, all weather pkg, sec and conv pkg. It priced out to about 37k new, for comparison. Also, it has all of 3200 miles on it, so it is extremely low mileage.

And I am gonna push for the price to be closer to $27-28k, so I wont be paying the full 30.

All GC's built before sometime in August will probably be recalled. My recall took 5 hours at the dealer's and I read others having the same time frame. There will be a slight initial drop in mileage until the transmission learns your driving preferences as they flash the transmission also. Really shifts wonderful now. Good luck with your purchase.

I think they sped it up a little, ours took 2 hours. The mileage drop wouldn't be from the recall, that would be from the transmission reflash.

My 2014 Laredo experienced the instrument cluster issue you referred to, and the fix took around 2.5 hours. Electronic problems are probably going to pop up in the beginning, but now, I couldn't be happier with my GC. Now that I've put it through its paces in snow and ice, I love mine.

I've been dealing with snow, ice and single digit temps out here in NJ and my Grand has been exactly like the 2 prior Grands I've owned when I lived in CO. Excellent.

When I'm out on icy roads, there is no other vehicle I would rather be in. Well, I guess I'd take an awd Porsche 911 on snow tires

I'd likely want those snow tires to be studded, and the ground clearance wouldn't help much in the snow ;-)
