I appreciate the comments.
I would not call this throttle lag because of the time delay. I know this 2014 does have a slow response when you stomp on the peddle, usually under 2 seconds while it thinks about shifting and increasing RPMS.
The issue I'm having has happened 3 times in the past 4 months since I got this CPO 2014 model.
When I say 10 seconds it was during the third time it happened and here is what took place:
1) Engine warmed up, ambient air temp 60F, no rain, and driving on a rural road that varies in elevations and speeds, speeds range from 25 to 55 mph.
2) System set in 'eco' mode, normal 'drive' transmission mode, not sport mode, not paddle shifting.
3) We were going between 40 and 45 mph and I approached a hill. Step down on the gas maybe 1/4" if you want to measure and nothing happened. So I continued
to press down further. At this point 3 seconds had pass by.
4) I said to my passenger "darn it, its happening again, watch my foot". And naturally the passenger gave me an odd 'what are you talking about' look.
5) I pointed down at my foot and said "Lean over and look at this. Foot to the floor and we aren't going any faster". At this point at least 6 seconds or more
passed by.
6) I looked at the speedo and the tach and nothing changed. 40+mph, tach was probably around 2k+.
7) I then shouted "8 pink elephants, 9 pink elephants....." , just like you do when you are at Ringling Bros circus.
8) Passenger said "what's a matter?" and I replied ... "I push the friggen gas peddle to the floor and she don't go anywhere. Piece of x&^hst"
9) After the 10 seconds I took my foot off the peddle, slapped the shifter in Sport Mode, and stomped on the gas again.... and the vehicle jumped and accelerated as you would want it to. I then slapped it back in standard auto shift mode.
The previous 2 times this event happened I know for a fact each time it was at least 5 seconds or more. Again, not typical lag.
One of the last events was going up a slight inclined 4 lane highway doing 65 mph, same situation 'automatic, eco mode, no paddle shifting and no cruise control .
And, its not the floor mat.
Vehicle has been to the same dealership twice for the problem and was also test driven by the Service Dept for some time on various road conditions.
Dealership reported no codes stored in the computer, no apparent obvious visual things (wires, plugs, etc). And, Dealership said the system was updated with the latest firmware or software, and no TPS's available on the "long lag or no response to throttle". If I was Jeep computer wizard I'd wonder if what is happening is happening "in between" cells or maps; if the tranny and engine ECU are looking at particular events and have actions that are suppose to take place when things are happening at particular rates (ie. at 2000 rpms, in 8th gear, with xx load ,if throttle position increases xx then do this) and that ain't happening with this particular vehicle in the situation it gets itself into.
I have not been able to force the event to happen, it just happens.
I do plan to drive on the same road it happened on last weekend just to see if its related to a 'black hole' thing.
In the mean time, rather nominal issue, for some reason 2 weeks ago the Dealership "road forced balanced" all 4 tires and now I have a vibration in the seat that starts around 58mph and increases with speed. I had complained that the steering wheel kinda gets what I call a 'bump steer' thing going on when I go over bumps and it starts to steer either left or right and shimmys a bit. They did a re-alignment and that took care of some of the problem however I think its just an inherent design with this model... shimmy of death!
