I'd rather do it myself. Sprint 3G service is spotty at best around my home. Could be a pain if it wants to update while I'm on the road. Eventually the update will be forced, and that could be problematic. I've been doing my own for 4 years now with no problem. I understand many will like the new way of updating, but I wish they'd give us a choice, and I don't think they will.

The fact that this update lets you choose what the autoplay starts is gold, add in the Fix for radio locks up/frozen, Fix for radio loses time, and Several navigation improvements- I'm calling the dealership now to have this update done.

Interesting. I can appreciate they've noted a fix to the Radio Freeze/Lockup which plagued my system when I applied the Siri Hands Free update as well as the other items noted, but who's to guarantee this software doesn't have other bugs in it that we'll discover once applied? I much prefer to apply these updates myself as jacko noted and I've always got a way to roll back if needed like with the Siri Update. I hope by going OTA with these there is a way for us to roll back in software versions, FCA/UConnect need to provide a means of doing so.

I see they have said there is no way to decline the update indefinitely. It's taken them one year to give another update to this firmware and if there are problems, consumers need a way to roll back to previous software until a new release is fixed. Unless they've added programmers and are committed to providing fixes quickly this is going to be a problem.

Reading further, there are 2 phases to the update. First takes up to 20 minutes and the 2nd takes up to 50! USB was much, much faster and more convenient.

Please let us know what your dealer says about doing the update.

I don't mind the FOTA updates. I just wish the owner could schedule the time to start the update instead of waiting for the phased rollout to hit your specific market. I really hope this fixes the freezing issues I've had ever since installing the Siri update. Wow that was a waste of time and I don't even use Siri that much but my system freezes nearly every time I start the vehicle now.
