New 2014 Overland uConnect 8.4AN Questions

Hi, just picked up my 2014 Overland in True Blue and I'm really loving it. As I am working through the kinks there are a few things I can't seem to find answers on....

for reference - iPhone 5 with 6.1.3
1. So, I was able to get the voice texting to work (need to change the bluetooth profile in the phone to "Notifications On"); but I am unable to get it to reply (option greyed out??) or to get the Voice system to compose a text as advertised. I came across this video of a review - and he says that the iPhone doesnt have the "Message Access Profile" to do this unless you jailbreak...but I beg to differ. Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

2. When I plug my iPhone in the USB, it switches to Media mode - but says that the device type does not work with iPod functionality. Is this even possible?

3. How do I get Bing, Pandora, Yelp, etc....to show up on uConnect app store? All I see is Wifi and the uConnect Bundle.

Thanks in advance

Chris

Don't know about the iPhone issues, as I use a different phone, but I can tell you the apps you're looking for are not available yet. Not sure when they will be available.

You're right, Bing is there, no others though, except Travel Link.

Cool New JGC 2014 Owner

Just picked up my 2014 JGC Limited in sparkly black with 20 inch wheels and Uconnect Navigation and loving it too.

I've done everything I wanted to do in it on the NAV but the texting.

Going to try now that I turned on Notifications and will report back what I find out.

Bingo

Got my first text message on my Nav today. Was able to even listen to it. The reply button was greyed out, but that may be because the car was moving.
Very cool.

Just thought I'd pass along an update...

Still no Pandora app, or others. However, I have iOS 7 Beta 3 on my iPhone and I have seen the following enhancements throughout the beta:

1. iTunes Radio, and every other music app work with Album Art when plugged into the USB
2. Email is now coming through as text messages when the phone screen is unlocked (odd, but I am hoping it's a sign of what's coming as they open up new API's)

I don't mind using the non-app streaming, but it's a bit clunky. If you get a phone call, you have to take your phone out and restart it. Hoping that Chrysler gets this moving and releases these already.

Adding to this thread as I have the same model Jeep and Uconnect system.

For those of you whom plug your phone in for media access - when you are listening to a track on an album, are you able to back out of the album and up to the artist's album level or do you have browse your entire music library every time you want to change to a different album of the same artist? I have an iPhone 6 and the latter is what I experience which is rather annoying.

Second, does anyone use an SD card to store audio? If so, when you leave the SD card in and start your vehicle does the Uconnect system automatically engage it or does it stay on the radio? My hope is it stays on the radio and doesn't switch over like it does when you plug in your phone to the USB media port.

Thanks and cheers!

Can't comment on Apple stuff as I left that sandbox 2 yrs ago . SD is all I use and mine resumes exactly where it was at shutdown. If song playing from SD that's where it resumes, radio playing then it starts up there, etc...
