New 2013 grand cherokee limited hemi driveline whining noise

I just bought a 2013 limited with the Hemi a couple of days ago. I love everything about this Jeep except for one thing. When driving between 40-60 there is a very noticable whine coming from the driveline. Does anyone else have this same issue. I took it back to the dealership and they said it was "normal". If it is then I will learn to ignore it but if it's not I want to get it fixed.

Since I can't hear it, I can't tell you if it is normal or not. You might ask the dealer to show you a like vehicle and see if it has the same noise.

Normally the whine is from the driver because of how poorly the transmission shifts.

My V8 does it on cold mornings too.
Goes away as soon as it warms up.

I little bit of whine is normal until the gears wear in. It could also be a bit of tire noise. Anyway, its going to be difficult for the dealer to fix until it gets worse. I presume they checked oil levels in all the driveline holes.

^^^ - Agree - just purchased my GC early last month and noticed a bit of driveline, "whine". Now with around 600 miles on it the whine seems to be almost gone ...

This makes no sense to me. I have e purchased several vehicles and never had a break in whine.

I have a Laredo X with the Hemi. I also get the whine between 40-60 mph. It's slightly annoying. I've been turning up the radio when it bothers me. It's kind of hard to tell exactly where it's coming from. Rear diff maybe? If anyone has had this issue and had it fixed please let me know.

Its the Hemi engine. It happens on all of them around that speed (usually in the mid 50s light throttle). Other than an annoyance, its not an issue. A quality exhaust will fix the issue

Regarding the driveline noise- I have a 2013 hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driveline noise started at 1500 miles, now has 3000. Starts at 25 mph and remains until stopped. You cannot hear it above 40 mph only because of road noise. Noise is like driving a 4 speed in 2nd gear. Jeep made a quick check and discovered it was the Transfer Case--- bearings or something. Anyway Chrysler authorized a new unit to be installed on 4/29/2013. Will respond after repairs are made.

Follow up: 2013 Grand Cherokee Hemi--- My Chrysler dealer replaced the Transfer Case on Tues with a brand new crated one and the whine noise is gone!!! The car now has no driveline noises of any type. Lost my 2010 Hemi to Hurricane Sandy, that made no noises so I could not live with the new one having that irritating whine. Suggest anyone with the problem have the dealer check further- mine was run on the lift and they found it in a minute.
