Leaking Strut / Shock

So, 2013 Wk2 with QT2 and 5.7. 28,000 miles and a I have a leaking front driver's side strut/shock. Anyone else experienced this? I have an appointment at the dealer on Wednesday to have it looked at, and I'm hoping it's covered under the warranty. It seems premature to have this kind of problem, but then again that's been the case with all this Jeep's problems.

I am pretty sure there is a TSB or recall for this.

Yep, a TSB;

That is just a technical service bulletin on how to determine if a shock needs replacing. Although helpful, it is not a recall notice. I had my passenger front strut go out at roughly 37K miles and Jeep covered it under warranty. I was going to pay for the other side to get replaced as well (so both fronts would be new) but Jeep wanted $700 for just the one side! 37K miles was way too early for this shock to go bad, especially since I drive mostly easy highway miles....no off roading.

Yeah, I'm not happy with the problems I've had with this. It's clearly the winner in amount and frequency of problems, and has really turned me off from the brand. I'll be getting a GM product next. While they aren't without their problems, they seem to be less frequent.

Maybe that why consumer reports ranked it "among the worse" for reliability.

Thank you for your concern in my problems! I'll be taking it to Stampede Jeep in Nampa, Idaho, as I've had numerous bad experiences at Larry Miller Jeep in Boise, Idaho. The last 8 characters of my VIN are as follows:

DC586862

Honestly, at this point, I wish Jeep would just take the vehicle back so I can get something else. That's where I'm at emotionally with this thing. It's also a little saddening for me as I've always wanted a Grand Cherokee since I was a kid, and this is my third Grand Cherokee in 4-5 years. All these problems have really turned me off and it's a huge bummer. Below are the other Jeeps I've owned.

2010 Grand Cherokee Laredo (Bought used as a previous rental with 20,000 miles on it)
2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo (Bare bones 4x2 with V6. Traded in for my current one at 25,000 miles as I thought this one would be incredible. It has not turned out that way)
2013 Grand Cherokee Altitude (Most options without being a limited. QT2 with 5.7L)

So, dealer called and strut is indeed toast. In fact, the service advisor told me it's the worst they've seen. Of course the parts are on a nationwide backorder, which means I have to take ANOTHER day off work and leave it there AGAIN.

I'm so over Jeep, this is ridiculous.

Most of the consumer reports of GC problems, were early 2014 production.
Most of those seem to be computer solfwear related.
By sometime later than the year half most of that was fixed. Computer Reflash.
I cannot complain at all about our Dec build Overland.

Unfortunately, mine is a 2013, so it's been all mechanical problems that need parts. The only thing that's relatively non mechanical is the poor shifting transmission, but then again the ECM flashes haven't helped that. Word is that Jeep is working on a plate to act as some sort of spacer for that.

I had pen in hand to trade it in for a new Silverado today, but I'm going to give Jeep one more chance to fix this.
